Personal Penguin

So I haven't been in here much since I started a new job this week. After being home and just working part-time for the past 8 years, I stumbled upon a job just up the road. Needless to say, I'm tired and miss my little Lulu but I'm doing ok. The job so far is kick ass!!! Can you believe they play a game at morning break where you can win money, products, gift cards, time off, beer, wine.....and they have a wonderful morning snack provided for you which includes (so far) fruits, veg and dip, nuts, cookies, popcorn, chocolate almonds. Who does this? I've never heard of a company doing anything like this before. Maybe I would have stuck around longer had the past places treated their workers as nice. I really like the job so far, the people seems good. Of course there will always be 'office politics' to deal with but you get that anywhere.

I got a call today from Bisque it and our ceramic pieces are ready for pick up! We can't wait to see them and will post a photo of the finished product on the weekend.

Well, as I head off to sleep, I hear Lucy's radio playing Personal Penguin....
it's her bedtime song, sung by Davey Jones (of the Monkeys). You think that's bad enough...well it's on REPEAT. God forbid you turn it off and she wakes up during the night. So on that note goodnight!

Knit a Square

Just found this site while stumbling... I think I'll give it a go!

Ceramics!

Today, Lucy and I drove to Vaughan and went to this great ceramic studio called Bisque it. Since it is my last Friday with Lucy before I work full-time I wanted to do something fun together. She was so excited, telling Brock last night what we were going to be doing.
Once we arrived, we got to choose from their array of items. Lucy picked a cat and asked me if I would paint a cat bank for her. They had so much to choose from but Lucy made it easy for me. She was so into painting and took her time applying the second and third coats of paint, I was so proud! Of course she didn't want the standard cat, it had to be rainbow! Here are the before shots, next week I will post the after. We can't wait to go and pick up our pieces of art!

City and Colour

So I haven't written in almost a week, mostly because I've been sick with bronchitis so I've been spending my days listening to music or sleeping. Anyways, the new City and Colour album is defo worth checking out. It's a beautiful acoustic album and it's Canadian! Dallas Greens' voice is frigging awesome! He's got great tats to boot, how can you not love him!

Valentine's Day!

It's Valentines Day today! I actually wish it were at a later date because I'm sick but Lucy is really excited so that makes it a little better! I made Brock a gift...I'll post it later and got some Webkinz for Lucy. She will be really happy as she's been eyeing the gift bags on the table! Since I'm not feeling too great, we are going to celebrate Valentines with some Chinese food and Mario Kart! Yippee!!! Can't go wrong with those two choices!

Lucy making cards for her class.

Just a little dove I found hanging on the wire in the backyard...I love birds~

Old Adverts

I love old adverts and these brought me a laugh...

Now playing: Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses

It's already February!

This is my first official blog. I have no idea what to write about so I am just going to be winging it from here. I have perused so many blogs; crafty ones, photography ones, design ones....so I figured that I could do it too. How hard can this be? I love love LOVE to make crafts, take photos and write about nonsense!

So here it is, already February and we are on the cusp of Valentines Day. Well, there are still 5 more days. Valentines Day, is such a huge deal to so many people. I mean really, why can't you love each other like that all year through? Why does this commercial holiday have to take over one day of your life. And it's not even one day, since you plan around it. Where are you going to go, or what you are going to eat, wear, buy... You even have the pressure of buying red undies for crying out loud!
People get upset if they don't get a thoughtful enough gift, or they spend too much on each other only to break up the next week. It's really silly to me, so I say make every day Valentines day. You don't have to have gifts all the time, just show each other that you care.
